
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have confirmed they're expecting a baby together. The newlyweds spread the news through a posting on Wentz's Web site. The pair called this the happiest time in their lives and said they were holding back on the announcement until after the first trimester. The couple wed nearly two weeks ago, then headed off to Turks and Caicos for their honeymoon. Simpson has reportedly taken Wentz's name, but will go by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz professionally.
George Clooney and Sarah Larson are reportedly calling it quits. The pair dated for almost a year. They first met at Whiskey Bar in Las Vegas where the former "Fear Factor" winner was working as a cocktail waitress...but it was their second Vegas encounter last June that led to their status as a couple. Larson became the first girlfriend that Clooney took to the Oscars. Clooney's rep wouldn't confirm the news, saying only that he doesn't comment on the actor's personal life.
R. Kelly's child pornography trial is at a stand-still. The R&B star is facing charges stemming from a video prosecutors say shows him having sex with a minor. A new defense witness has reportedly come forward, prompting the judge to put testimony on pause yesterday. A female prosecution witness was set to testify about a threesome she had with the singer and an underage girl...she was also reportedly ready to identify Kelly in the video. But the judge now fears the new defense witness may undermine the woman's testimony. The trial will continue after prosecutors hear the new witness's deposition. That's all according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Jewel is gearing up to release her first country album next week...and she's previewing her latest project online. The new album is called "Perfectly Clear" and fans can get a sneak peak at iheartmusic.com. The singer/songwriter says she's always been interested in country music and she tells People magazine she wrote the title track on the album when she was 18. Jewel wrote all but one of the songs on the new album and her first single, "Stronger Woman" is already sitting at No. 15 on the Billboard country chart.
Stars stepped out for the premiere of "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood yesterday. Adam Sandler stars in the comedy. He attended the screening with his wife, Jackie, who is pregnant with the couple's second child. Other cast members like Henry Winkler, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Lainie Kazan were also on hand for the event.
