Senator Barack Obama seems to be looking ahead to November. The Illinois senator will appear at a rally in Iowa tonight. That's despite being favored to win Oregon's primary today. Iowa was where Obama started off the primary season in January with a caucus win. It's also a big swing state that Democrats hope to hold onto in the general election. Obams says that if Kentucky and Oregon's results turn out like expected, he'll have a majority of pledged delegates.
Senator Ed Kennedy is not expected back at work this week. A spokeswoman for the Democratic icon says Kennedy will likely stay in the hospital a couple of more days while doctors try to determine the cause of the seizure he suffered on Saturday. President Bush called the Massachusetts senator yesterday to offer his support.
Chinese officials say the death toll from last week's devastating earthquake now stands at 40 thousand. A quarter of a million people are believed to be injured. The country is bracing themselves for more aftershocks as massive relief efforts are underway. Workers are continuing to search under collapsed buildings for victims who are trapped.
New York Governor David Paterson is in the hospital today undergoing tests. He was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York this morning after reportedly suffering from migraine-like symptoms. Paterson's office says all preliminary tests were reportedly normal. Paterson took office in March when Eliot Spitzer resigned amid his alleged connection to a prostitution ring.
